Personal injury claim specialist, Neil John, has successfully settled the claim of a Cambridgeshire man who suffered facial injuries, including scarring, and orthopaedic injuries as the result of a road traffic incident. The injuries were incurred when he was a passenger in a car which left the road and struck a post.
Neil comments: “Car passengers are sometimes reluctant to bring a personal injury claim when they could do so, particularly if the car driver was the cause of the accident and is a close friend or family member. This shouldn’t put people off. The purpose of bringing a personal injury claim is to put someone back as closely as possible to the position they were in before the injury occurred, as long as the incident that caused the injury was not entirely their fault. In some cases this means that an insurance company will need to cover the cost of loss of earnings while someone recovers from an injury, at other times it may cover specialist rehabilitation or surgery, and in the case of catastrophic injuries may mean covering the cost of long-term full-time care. Generally the driver who was at fault is happy for their injured passenger to bring a claim against them as they are unhappy that they have inadvertently injured someone who was relying on them. Even if this is not the case, the passenger should not be deterred from doing what is best for their long-term health.”
