Almost £200,000 Recovered for Injured Lorry Driver

Neil John, a personal injury specialist partner at Fraser Dawbarns, has helped a local lorry driver obtain nearly £200,000 following his injury.  The lorry driver was asleep in his cab in a layby, resting in line with the tachograph rules, when his lorry was hit by a car.  The lorry driver was thrown from his seat. He initially thought his physical injuries were minor but went on to develop psychological injury and neuropathy, which led to him being bedbound and ultimately hospitalised.  As a result, he was unable to return to work.

Neil comments: “We obtained an early interim payment as part of our client’s personal injury claim to help him during the initial stages of his treatment and assisted him to access a substantial five figure sum in benefits. He was also able to obtain substantial back pay from his employer’s insurance provision.  The car driver’s insurers strongly disputed whether our client’s long-term injuries were actually caused by the incident in the layby and, as a result, a settlement has just been agreed for a further £100,000, to conclude the claim.  Our aim is always to obtain the best possible settlement for our clients; sometimes this involves an element of risk management and in this case it was more important to get a good settlement which would make a practical positive difference to our client’s future than to risk pushing for more without the certainty of success.”
