£900,000 Settlement for Passenger in Head on Car Collision

Neil John, a personal injury specialist at Fraser Dawbarns has successfully settled a claim for £900,000 for a local client injured in a car accident. The claimant was a front seat passenger in a hatchback when the vehicle crossed the carriageway and collided head on with a large saloon car.

The Claimant, who was 19 at the time of the accident suffered significant leg injuries which will result in needing a full knee replacement by the age of 35. In addition, the claimant also suffered psychological symptoms which did not initially respond to counselling.

Most of the claim was to compensate for the loss of earnings the client will face as they could not pursue their desired career path of being self-employed after completing their apprenticeship. This is due to the injuries resulting from the accident meaning that they are unable to do any heavy manual work unaided.

Neil comments: “the claim was finally settled by negotiation, with the first offer being approximately £250,000. It is important for me to evaluate how the accident will impact my clients into the future and ensure that the compensation is respective of that. Whilst the compensation may appear a substantial amount, this will not be able to replace the lifelong injuries and impact that this accident will have for our client. Reaching the best agreement for my clients based on their individual situation is of the upmost importance to me, so that they do not find themselves in financial hardship as a result of their accident.”
