Fraser Dawbarns’ personal injury lawyer Neil John has obtained a £15,000 settlement an agency worker who was injured when he slipped while climbing into machinery on a construction site. The cause of the slipping was identified as defective protective personal equipment boots.
Neil comments: “This is another example of the need for everyone operating in a commercial environment to ensure that all equipment, clothing and the workplace environment as a whole meets the required safety standards. Health and Safety Executive statistics published in 2020 revealed that there are still over 60,000 non-fatal injuries to construction workers in the UK each year, of which around 26% result from trips, slips and falls on the same level rather than from a great height. The good news is that the trend is downwards but more of these should be able to be avoided.”
