Injury claim settlement for cyclist following a ‘hit and run’ incident

Neil John, a personal injury specialist solicitor at Fraser Dawbarns, has obtained a £25,000 settlement for a King’s Lynn cyclist who was hit by an overtaking vehicle which then failed to stop.  The driver was eventually tracked down, prosecuted and convicted of a driving offence in relation to the incident.

Neil comments: “In this instance, the driver was found and it was possible to bring a personal injury claim against him on behalf of the injured cyclist.  Sometimes when a hit and run occurs, it is not possible to track down the vehicle or its driver.  In these cases, and in any matter with an uninsured driver, we have to rely on the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) to compensate an injured person as there is no specific individual and insurance policy to claim against.”
